The studio

The studio is the workshop where you design your templates: each template becomes a document generator with automatic numbering and archiving. The studio draws the mould; generation uses it every day from the folders.

Create a template

From the Explorer, click "New template": the template opens in the studio on a blank page. You can also start from a Template Hub model, generate a first draft with AI or import a .dokkt file.

Elements

The quick-add menu (double-click the page or an element) groups insertions by intent — Content (text, table, image, signature, barcode / QR code, icon, chart) and Shapes (rectangle, line, …) — and is keyboard-navigable. The same elements can be dragged from the side panel:

  • Text — free text block, accepts variables {{…}} and @…. Type @: autocomplete suggests existing variables as well as the template's unlinked registries — pick one and the root is inserted, linking the registry on the spot.
  • Image — static file or variable (e.g. scanned signature).
  • Table — rows fed from generation data.
  • Signature — an electronic signature area (see The signature).
  • Shapes — rectangles, lines and barcode / QR code.

Each element is positioned with the mouse and tuned in the inspector: font, size, colour, alignment.

Conditional visibility

An element can appear or disappear depending on the generation data. In the inspector, "Conditional visibility" section, pick the mode Always, Show if or Hide if, then stack filter-style rules: "VAT is equal to "0"", "Amount is greater than {{ceiling}}", "Valid until is before …". The proposed operators follow the variable's type — equality and emptiness for text, comparisons for numbers, before / after for dates — and the compared value can be another variable. Several rules combine as All (AND) or Any (OR); a "Formula" rule accepts a free expression (={{total}} > {{ceiling}}). A summary sentence ("Shown if VAT is equal to "0" and Discount is empty") recalls the current condition.

Conditions are evaluated server-side: the preview and the final PDF apply exactly your rules, whatever the generation channel.

The signature

The Signature element places a signature area on the page. The signature pad — with the mouse, a finger or a stylus — adjusts the ink (suggested colours or a free colour) and the stroke width; you can also import an image (scanned signature, stamp) in addition to drawing. The same pad opens at generation: the form's signature field lets you sign on the fly or import an image, and a variable bound to the element takes precedence over the template's drawing at render time.

Page settings

Format (A4, Letter, …), orientation and margins are set per template: the generated PDF follows exactly that frame.

Numbering

Each template carries its own numbering pattern, assembled from tokens ({SEQ}, {MM}, {AAAA}… — full reference): the counter increments on every issue, under lock, with no gaps or duplicates. It is the backbone of invoice and quote numbers, injected into the document through {{DOCUMENT.num}}.

Generation forms

The generation form is composed in its dedicated tab: this is what you fill in every time you issue a document. A variable's Required field option blocks the issue while the value is empty — in the form as well as through the API; a value pre-filled by the folder cascade or a schema default satisfies the requirement.
